Tracy Leroy Jessop, known to everyone simply as "Red", passed away on June 3, 2025, in St. George, Utah, at the age of 43 after a courageous and relentless battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the family he loved more fiercely than anything in the world.
He was born on December 4, 1981, to Ray Leslie Jessop and Rebecca Karen Jessop. He started school at age five and made friends easily. As a kid, he was always in motion; practicing his dribble and free throws, rounding up a football game at the park, or riding alongside his dad as they graded roads on the Arizona Strip.
By the age of 14, Red was working with his brothers, forming bonds that stayed strong for life. At age 21, he married Jamie, and from that day on, they were true partners - building a life, raising their kids, and facing everything together. They had just celebrated their 22nd anniversary, a testament to the deep love and commitment they shared through every season of life.
Red was a devoted husband, an endlessly engaged father, and a loyal friend. He never missed a game, an event, or a moment to show up for his kids - Tracson (20), Mattie (19), Lexi (16), and Jackson (14) - who were the center of his world. His love for them wasn't quiet or reserved; it was bold, wholehearted, and constant. That same unwavering loyalty defined his marriage, his friendships, and the way he approached every part of life.
Red had a quick wit and a playful sense of humor that made people feel instantly at ease, often making them laugh when they needed it most. He was passionate about sports, especially football and golf, and never passed up a chance to talk strategy or call out a questionable ref. He took golf seriously and had little patience for anyone who didn't, but even then, it was never just about the score, it was about the people.
He coached Tracson's middle school football team for three years and later coached Jackson's third-grade baseball and football teams until his diagnosis made it too difficult to continue. He formed real friendships with other coaches and lasting bonds with the kids. After finishing his framing career, Red became a project manager, where he built even more relationships and earned the trust and admiration of everyone he worked with. He was deeply respected by colleagues and beloved by friends, many of whom will tell you he was the kind of person you could always count on.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Jamie; his four incredible children; his mother, Karen; and many siblings, extended family members, and friends who will carry his memory forward. He was preceded in death by his father, Ray.
Red's legacy is one of love in action; showing up, holding tight, and never letting life's hardest moments shake who you are. He gave everything for the people he loved. We will miss him beyond words and honor him by doing exactly what he taught us; showing up for each other.
