Twyla Louise Pierce Entwistle passed away in Hurricane, Utah on December 3, 2025, at the age of 82.
She was born to Grover Pierce and Margaret Louise (Broome) Pierce in Newton, Mississippi on September 15, 1943. While attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah she met Jimmy Elwyn Entwistle, who secretly would go out to scrape the ice off her car every morning. It made an impression as they were married in the LDS Salt Lake Temple and moved to Moline, Illinois where her husband took a job with John Deere. Together they had a daughter (Derena) and one son (David). They raised their children in Asheville, North Carolina and El Paso, Texas before retiring and moving to Utah to be with family.
Twyla was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership callings including the Primary and especially enjoyed working in the Young Women's program. Twyla and Jimmy also served a 2 1/2-year mission at the St. George Temple. She worked in many diverse fields including an artisan of sterling and turquoise jewelry, served in the medical field as an office manager for physicians and, later in life, learned to drive a 18-wheeler "big rig" where she worked as a team driver with her husband for CR England Transportation.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy; daughter, Derena (Jeff); son, David (Dawna); sisters Margaret, Deborah, Lilly and Charlotte (deceased) along with grandchildren, Chase Entwistle, Courtney Prince, Sidney Langford, Whitney Adamson and Pierce Adamson (deceased) and four great grandchildren; Ryker, Peyton, Bucky and Hadley.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel on 70 S. 300 W. La Verkin, Utah at 10:30 AM. A viewing will precede the service at 9:00 AM. Burial will take place following the funeral at the Hurricane Cemetery at 255 E. 600 N. in Hurricane, Utah.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah.
