William (Bill) S. Cassity, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 5, 2026. He was born May 28, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Joseph Ellsworth Cassity and Mayra Levada Henderson.
He married Elvira Emma Schmidt May 1, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nevada, gaining 2 bonus sons.
Bill's early years were spent on the Cassity Ranch in Grantsville, Utah. As a young boy he grew up in South Salt Lake working on the beet farms and swimming in the Jordan River. He went to Granite High School and while he was there, he won State in Swimming. On one rebellious day he rode his Triumph motorcycle though the S building.
After high school he joined the United States Navy serving overseas on the USS Hancock as boiler repairman during Vietnam. He also taught swimming lessons and was a scuba diver. He served his country honorably.
Bill then went on to work at Sears and Roebuck in the tire and alignment department. Having a new family to take care of he went on to work at Acme Electric and then on to Utah Power and Light as a Journeyman Lineman retiring in 1987.
He was a die-hard Harley Davidson man. He enjoyed working on cars, building a 1927 Model T Ford, 1949 5-window Chevy pickup, and a 1977 Manza drag racing car; earning the "Hardluck" award for blowing up several motors and the "Most Dedicated Racer" for never missing a race even after rotator cuff surgery - winning that race in a sling.
He loved spending time with his family camping, fishing, and water skiing nearly every weekend each summer. Dad never missed a chance to let his family know he loved us.
Bill is survived by his wife Elvira; son Glen (Chris) Leon of Sun City West AZ; daughter Wendy Densley of South Jordan UT; and son Dutch (Cindy) Cassity of West Jordan UT. 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jaylynn, son Louis Leon, sister ValJean Pace, brother Robert Cassity, and Son-in-law Eric Densley.
