William Harrison "Bill" Condie, age 91, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in his home in Santa Clara, Utah, near the city where he was born and spent his life surrounded by family, faith, and community.
Born on March 27, 1934, in St. George, Utah, Bill was a lifelong resident who deeply cherished the town's rich heritage and the people who made it home. He began his professional journey with the St. George Police Department before transitioning to a long and fulfilling career with the Utah Department of Transportation. Over the course of 34 years, Bill contributed to the development and maintenance of Utah's infrastructure with dedication and pride until his retirement.
Bill was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith was central to his life, and one of his most treasured memories was being sealed for time and all eternity to his beloved wife, Lorraine, in the St. George Temple. Their marriage spanned an extraordinary 64 years-a testament to their enduring love and partnership. Together they raised five children: Debbie Leatham (Bill), Michelle Condie, Cheryl Piper Kirby (Doug Piper and later in life John Kirby), Carl Condie (Michelle), and Kevin Condie (Stacey). Bill found immense joy in watching their family grow; he and Lorraine were blessed with ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Family was at the heart of everything Bill did. Whether it was fishing trips, boating excursions, or annual reunions in Pine Valley, he relished every opportunity to spend time outdoors with loved ones. Pine Valley held a special place in his heart-not only for its natural beauty but also for the garden he lovingly tended each year at their cabin. His green thumb brought color and life to that mountain retreat season after season.
Bill also had a passion for vintage cars. When he wasn't gardening or enjoying nature with family and friends, he could often be found in his shop restoring classic automobiles-a hobby that combined craftsmanship with nostalgia. His talent for restoration reflected both patience and precision.
A dedicated community member, Bill volunteered actively with the Lions Club and took great pleasure in supporting local events-especially helping out at the rodeo, one of his favorite activities. His commitment to service extended beyond formal roles; he simply loved being involved wherever there was a need or opportunity to contribute.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Lorraine; their five children; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Joyce Condie; sister Miriam Condie; grandson David Piper; sons-in-law Bill Leatham, Doug Piper, and John Kirby.
A man of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to those he loved, Bill leaves behind a legacy rooted in service, family bonds, and heartfelt traditions that will continue through generations.
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. A Funeral Service will be held on January 16, 2026, 11:00am at Spilsbury Mortuary 110 South Bluff Street St. George Utah. The viewing will be from 9:30am-10:30am. Interment will take place after the services at the Santa Clara City Cemetery.
Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 435-673-2454.
