Degory Brooks Esplin

Degory Brooks Esplin (66) of Washington, Utah passed away October 26, 2019 of lung complications at Dixie Regional Medical Center, St. George, Utah, with his children by his side.

He was born May 17, 1953 to David Spencer and Olive Brooks Esplin.  He was raised in St. George, Utah attending East Elementary, Woodward Jr. High School, Dixie High School, and Dixie College.

He married Margaret Ingram.  As young sweethearts they had one daughter, Tressa K Esplin.  Later, he married Peggy Dillon.  The two of them enjoyed good years with their blended family in Colorado. Then, he found a close friendship with Lisa Higa.  Together they had a son, Taygen Kipland Esplin.  They remained friends throughout his life.

Degory was a well-trained cable and power lineman.  He traveled the United States laying cable and power lines working side-by-side with his brother Tyler during some of these travels.  Later, he worked for Pennzoil.

Deg, learned to ride a unicycle as a young boy and entertained many people with his tricks.  He loved NASCAR. Watching races would take up many weekends.  He was kind and helpful to those he met and would strike up a conversation with anyone who would visit with him.   Degory had a beautiful singing voice but he hid it well throughout his life.  He was a collector of sorts, Deg collected dreams.  While health and habits didn’t allow him to see those dreams to fruition he still loved sharing them.

He is survived by his daughter Tressa K Esplin (Brandon Austin), and son, Taygen Kipland Esplin, two grandsons, Ashton Brooks Austin, and Talyn Cash Austin. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Nicholas (Judy) Esplin, Stefinee (Fred) Pinnegar, Tyler (Patti) Esplin, Fran (Wayne) Stucki, and Misty Esplin.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Kiplin Max Esplin.

A viewing will be held at Spilsbury Mortuary (110 South Bluff, St. George, Utah) Saturday, November 16, 2019 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.  A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in the Pine Valley Cemetery, Pine Valley, Utah.
